چکیده

Abstract Mimetic finite difference operators $$\textbf{D}$$ D , $$\textbf{G}$$ G are discrete analogs of the continuous divergence (div) and gradient (grad) operators. In sense, these satisfy same properties as those their continuum counterparts. particular, they a extended Gauss’ theorem. This paper investigates higher-order quadratures associated with fourth- sixth- order mimetic operators, show that indeed numerical addition, extensions to curvilinear coordinates treated. Examples in one two dimensions illustrate results presented confirm validity theoretical findings.

Vectorized Higher Order Finite Difference Kernels

Several highly optimized implementations of Finite Difference schemes are discussed. The combination of vectorization and an interleaved data layout, spatial and temporal loop tiling algorithms, loop unrolling, and parameter tuning lead to efficient computational kernels in one to three spatial dimensions, truncation errors of order two to twelve, and isotropic and compact anisotropic stencils....

Symmetrizable Finite Difference Operators

We introduce the notion of a symmetrizable finite difference operator and prove that such operators are stable. We then present some sufficient conditions for symmetrizability. One of these extends H.-O. Kreiss' theorem on dissipative difference schemes for hyperbolic equations to a more general case with full (jc , invariable coefficients.

Calculus and Finite Difference Operators

This paper shows that the naturally induced discrete differentiation operators induced from a wavelet-Galerkin finite-dimensional approximation to a standard function space approximates differentiation with an error of order 0(h2d+2), where d is the degree of the wavelet system. The degree of a wavelet system is defined as one less than the degree of the lowest-order nonvanishing moment of the ...

Mimetic finite difference methods in image processing

We introduce the use of mimetic methods to the imaging community, for the solution of the initial-value problems ubiquitous in the machine vision and image processing and analysis fields. PDE-based image processing and analysis techniques comprise a host of applications such as noise removal and restoration, deblurring and enhancement, segmentation, edge detection, inpainting, registration, mot...
